WHAT A DIFFERENCE A YEAR CAN MAKE

Almost one year ago (Oct. 22, 2008), I wrote a post about the power of a hug. I had just received a hug from someone that I didn't think I would ever receive one from again in this lifetime. WOW! What a difference a year can make. Over this past year, we have witnessed many tender mercies, and even miracles in our home. Those of you who know me, know what I am talking about.

It hasn't been an easy year, but through the ups and downs, I am learning and growing so much. I'm learning to be more tolerant, and to not sweat the small stuff. I'm learning to be more patient. I'm learning that I don't always have to prove my point, even when I'm right. But most important for me, is I have learned to trust my Heavenly Father and have faith in him. I have been taught my entire life about faith, but I don't think I ever knew how to really HAVE it. It wasn't until I finally reached the end of my rope, that I fell to my knees one day and completely submitted myself to the will of the Lord and admitted that I was powerless. As soon as I laid my burdens at His feet, the miracles began to happen. Don't get me wrong, we still have our share of challenges, just like most, but I am more capable of handling them now because of a patient Heavenly Father who never gives up on me. I am so thankful for His love, and His gentle hand as he guides me along. I'm grateful for His tender mercies each day that let me know he is always there beside me. I'm grateful for the Savior and his atonement, that allows me to repent and work a little harder each day to become more like Him. I am thankful for the power of a hug....I get them on a regular basis now!

WOW!! What a difference a year can make.

I love this post Kelli. Very sweet and honest and if I'm thinking of the right person who gave you that hug, I've seen the amazing changes too. That is awesome for you. We can never give up on people, ourselves included!
